Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) is an unprecedented technique developed by the U.S. Dept. of the Interior for NASA. It is through this process that the waste water on NASA’s space shuttle orbiters is filtered and recycled. It is the ultimate in water filtration technology and produces water that is BETTER than any bottled spring water on the market. In fact, Dasani (Coca Cola), Aquafina (Pepsi Cola) and Deja Blue (Dr. Pepper) incorporate this technology to purify their bottled waters.
Here is how it works. The force of the city water pressure forces the water through a semi-permeable membrane. The pure water molecule is forced through the membrane and is stored in a sanitized storage tank and the contaminants are flushed down the drain. This process filters water down to the sub-micron range. In laymen’s terms, the diameter of a strand of hair is 80 microns, and the human eye can see down to 40 microns. In the R.O. process, the pre filter removes anything larger than 5 microns. You or I could not see this with the naked eye. The R.O. membrane then filters the water down to 0.0005 of a micron. That is five ten thousandths of a micron! Comparatively speaking, the smallest bacterium is 0.2 microns in size, and, the smallest virus is 0.02 microns in size. They cannot pass through the membrane, therefore providing the highest quality of water. A long list of organic pollutants (carcinogens), inorganics (metals and heavy metals), micro-organisms (bacteria, viruses, pyrogens and cysts) and pharmaceuticals are removed by this process.
The system will continually produce high quality water every day and provides this water to a dedicated spigot, coffee maker(s) and or ice maker(s). It is BETTER than any bottled spring water, conveniently at your fingertips and you never have to change bulky, heavy bottles.
These systems are installed under a kitchen or wet bar sink, in garages, laundry rooms, or attics. During new construction, home owners are now choosing to install a single, centrally located system and run lines to where they would like to have R.O. water such as main kitchen sink, refrigerator/ice maker, undercounter ice maker, coffee maker, master bath, wet bar, etc.

R.O. Systems are now manufactured for POE applications. This is the only technology that removes pharmaceuticals. Whether you are taking antibiotics, birth control pills or blood pressure medicine, traces of pharmaceuticals have been found in water supplies. If you are allergic to a particular drug, this could cause some problems. R.O. can give you peace of mind that the quality of the water for your family is of the highest quality.
